Fan Yang received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2006 under the supervision of Prof. Jennifer Elisseeff. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Prof. Robert Langer at MIT during 2006-2009. Fan joined the Departments of Bioengineering and Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford as an Assistant Professor in Sep 2009. Fan is also an Associate Member of Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University and affliated faculty with Stanford Bio-X program.
About Us
Our research seeks to understand how microenvironmental cues regulate stem cell fate, and to develop novel biomaterials and stem cell-based therapeutics
for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Our work spans from fundamental science, technology development, to
translational research. Specifically, we focus on the following thrust areas: (1) stem cells, (2) biomaterials, (3) drug/gene delivery
and (4) tissue engineering. We are particularly interested in developing better therapies for treating musculoskeletal diseases,
cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Our research is highly interdisciplinary and we work at the interface of biology, materials science, engineering and medicine. [Read more...]
